(D1) First day back after first study day

Today was my first work day after having a study day.  I did feel a bit like I had missed a day and had to catch up on that whole missed day.  After I had talked to myself a bit, talked to a very helpful colleague and worked through a mindfulness track from here https://www.anxietycanada.com/ I felt a bit better.  So what is the so what from this?  I actually knew that I didn’t have to ‘make up’ the day because it was built into my timetable and into my plan.  I had also put an ‘out of office’ message on my email so people knew why I wasn’t replying straight away.   My brain needed to be convinced of that.  Stupid brain!  In order to still my brain I also made a list and stuck to it.

I wasn’t able to access the spoken relaxation as the website has changed since I last used it.  Luckily they now have a free app that I downloaded.  I had a wee giggle when it told me I was now relaxed and another colleague’s phone went off.  Not very relaxing at all!  My colleague also recommended another app, Smiling Minds, which I have also downloaded.  I will try it later and it may be what I post to the other discussion that I haven’t done yet.

Now that my blister is healed, I went for several walks with my mentor which also helped with putting things into perspective.

So, to recap.  I don’t need to stress that I am behind in my work as it is all accounted for.  Keep eating that elephant one bite at a time!
